Hard times

During the last few weeks that we have been walking the streets, there have been increasing signs that business is very bad for the women. Women who until recently said that business was down but that they could still manage and that they were waiting for better times, now say that it often happens that they cannot even earn enough to pay the rent for their room.

Someone we know well said that she has actually lost hope. She is stressed, has pain in her back, neck and shoulders, and increasingly suffers from headaches. This has led to poor sleep and she is now tired 24/7.

Even a window owner indicated that we would soon be getting busier.

And a young girl (I estimate her to be no older than 22) had tears in her eyes when I asked her how she was doing. She had to pay the rent for her flat within a few days and she still didn’t have any of the €3,000 she needed.

We would love to have a ready-made answer for her in that window. But at that moment, just listening is already so helpful. Of course, we want to think along with her and see what her options are.

These high rents for almost all the women make it impossible for them to leave. And that is really a prayer point, that affordable flats will become available so that other work can be taken on. Will you join us in praying for possibilities?

What will you put under the Bright Fame tree this Christmas?

This Christmas, we are organising a special campaign! You too can contribute to a meaningful Christmas for women in prostitution. Christmas is a time of warmth, togetherness and love.

S – £50

With this gift, you give a woman access to social work and aftercare. Practical help and someone to
stand by her side, so she can get her life back on track.

M – £75

With this amount, you give a woman a warm Christmas celebration with a festive meal and a
personal gift — a moment in which she can feel loved.

L – £100 per month

With a monthly contribution, you can help women on a structural basis. You make lasting care,
guidance and pastoral support possible.

XL – £250

With this gift, you make a hotel visit possible where our team can talk to three women in peace and quiet. A safe place where dreams are reborn. Together, we can bring hope and love this Christmas to women who need it so badly.
